This is the colored version to Basil's Gift Original. Colored in CorelDRAW Photo Paint 8.

The background: No cloning involved. I colored from the b&w original as is, and since I'm not good with backgrounds, I put the Texturize tool to use by heavily darkening it. I did, however, add a bit of brightness at Basil's right arm to try and indicate that the table lamp is turned on, adding *some* illumination to the otherwise dreary room!

The floor: various drift wood pieces added and blended in with more shadows. The bolts are of stone material blended in. The walls on the left are also wood pieces of a different variety. The right green wall was a marble portion of material.

All portions used from CorelDRAW Photo Paint 8 Disc 3.

The red chair is a monster, one I thought about manipping in, but it looked too fake. I went for various shades of red, coloring in dark and light places for the creases. It's an evil chair, a pain to color and design. Same with the foot stool. I followed the pattern from a movie still but did NOT paste any portion of it here.

On clothing: I chose different colors on Olivia's outfit to try and stray from the film, or to show this is months later and that she does have more clothes in her wardrobe! As for Basil, I assumed he was caught in the middle of either going out or coming back in from solving a case and hasn't even had the chance to remove his hat or coat. After much persuasion from a certain child, he gets pushed into his favorite red chair with a gift to open whether he wants to or not!

The violin and box: Totally drawn and colored, a real chore to make that instrument look as accurate as possible! It was nice to draw it here intact and not separated, which was harder to do! The gift box was designed from an image I found on line of a 19th century violin inlaid case. It was gorgeous, yet way too complex to recreate. I did not copy and paste the image, I chose to try and color it myself. Finding that attempt hideous, I ended up covering most of the design with tissue paper.
