Artist's Comments
This is the first idea expanded from the GMD characters dressed in Halloween costumes. For Halloween of 2008, I drew the six main characters wearing Halloween costumes, specifically Ratigan and Basil switched their attire as well as professions. Here, Ratigan is getting a good laugh when Basil made the mistake of listening to Olivia complain of sore feet and she became a devious hat stealer again. The concept came about when, a few years back, my whole family were at Disneyland and I put on a head band of Minnie Mouse ears on my uncle's head. The look on his face was priceless, but I promised not to photograph it to spare him the humiliation. Also, I was curious to see how Basil would look wearing Olivia's tiara. I'm mainly showing the b&w penciled version because I deleted the text when coloring it. We all know what Ratigan is saying, but the 'Sparkle!' and 'Gleam!' emphasis on Basil's lovely new tiara was a gag I picked up from Kevin Eastman whom added it to a drawing he did of Michaelangelo wearing Golden Underwear. If you know FOGU, you don't have to ask.
