This is the colored version to Mouse Evolution Original.

Colored in CorelDRAW Photo Paint 8. No photo manipulation or added screen shots were involved. I used the Pastel brush with several swirl, blur, and object brushes. The brick wall is the same from the TMNT 2 Arcade Colored image only I colored it differently.

Basil's shadow on the brick wall was done by the use of the Clone Tool. I didn't steal it! Let me explain! I masked out Basil's form in this picture, saved it as another document, and then masked his form again, coloring it black. I copied the black form and pasted it against the wall, took another Clone of brick wall (same from the image!) and then lightly painted it over the shadow.

I did this technique before when coloring a ghost against a brick wall and making the form look transparent. I had to color the brick wall through her body, and in order to do that, I masked the wall and Cloned it in. It's NOT stealing when I'm doing this with my own work!

The London fog: All done by me! I found the swirl brush tool very useful for that spot. I masked the background and went to town with grays, blues, whites, and black mixed in.

The grass: Very easy. Used the object brush tool that looks like stems of grass. Then used various shades of green and blended them in.

Basil, the other Basil, in book form! His cape is a terrible mess of plaid yellow, red and brown. I was looking over a picture from one of the book covers and couldn't decide what color to make it. No cloning! Instead of painting Normal, I found If Lighter or If Darker styles won't paint over lines that I want to keep and colored in the opposite.

The background concept:
After completing this, I was suddenly reminded of the story of the Country Mouse and his distant cousin, the City Mouse. Book Basil is down on his knees looking for clues while Movie Basil is standing safely on a hard, dry surface. I joked that Movie Basil would never get down on his knees, why, think of the grass stains! In all seriousness, both detectives would get down and dirty to find clues for a case.

This is also a concept of past to future: a country background on the left and then a city background on the right. Although I've got a huge contrast going on here, this character is a little of both no matter what form he is!

If there are no cats in America & the streets are paved with cheese, would they taste like Gouda or cheddar?
