I pondered posting this Stamp for a little bit. But, in the end, yeah, I definitely support 'the catch' in the show! Yes, in "The Phantom of the Opera" musical, the Phantom is supposed to catch Christine during "The Music of the Night." The Phantom removes a sheet to reveal what appears to be a mirror and Christine looks to see herself within it. The mirror image then thrusts its arms out to her and she faints. The Phantom swiftly catches her and carries her to the boat just in time to sing the final words to "The Music of the Night."

However, not all Phantom actors catch their Christine due to they don't have the strength or they just rather her fall to the ground. Peter Karrie, the Phantom I saw in London, caught Christine and I was so spellbound. I much prefer the Phantom catching her than letting her fall. And I'm glad to say 'the catch' is forever preserved on "The Music of the Night" video with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman.

Please favor if you wish to use this Stamp. Thanks!

I think this is John Owen Jones in the picture. He played the Phantom in London and was featured on the "Behind the Mask" documentary of The Phantom of the Opera DVD. Seems as though they try to keep 'the catch' in for the London production. Anywhere else, like the tour companies, have the option to let her fall.

Hey, did you hear about Rob Guest, another Phantom star? He just passed away recently. I've got the report up at my journal. :(

"The catch", always a pleasure to see the Phantom catch Christine.

Then again, I probably would've laughed if I ever saw one of the Phantoms let Christine fall. (I've never seen any of the stage-musicals, so I don'tknow how it went)

They seem to keep it that way in the London production. The Phantom I saw in 1992 in London was Peter Karrie. He caught his Christine. In the L.A. production with Davis Gaines and Dale Kristien, he lets her fall. Michael Crawford caught Sarah Brightman up until Broadway when he could no longer do it. Fortunately, he catches her in "The Music of the Night" music video, so that's one way of seeing it. :)

Well, I'd still like see the stage musical. I've only seen one, but it was an original production of the "Phantom of the Opera".

I hope you get the chance. With or without the Phantom catching Christine, it's still a great show.

No, no, I don't think I'll ever see an offical stage-musical, with or without the Phantom of the Opera and Christine Daae.
