Triquetra Stamp

Description

This Stamp is another favorite symbol of mine, and yes, my discovery of it came from the WB's "Charmed" many moons ago. Learning its meaning, however, I respected it more than just from a TV show. Triquetra, or Latin for three-cornered, has more than one meaning in religion. "Charmed" used it as the "power of three" when the three Halliwell sisters combined their magic as one. The symbol was found on the cover of their Book of Shadows and their Spirit Board (same as a Ouija Board). One web site had some information on its meaning in different religions:

Christian Symbolism:
The Triquetra represents the Holy Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The unbroken circle represents eternity. The interwoven nature of the symbol denotes the indivisibility and equality of the Holy Trinity. It symbolizes that the Holy Spirit is three beings of power, honor, and glory but is indivisibly one God.

Pagan/Wiccan/Goddess Symbolism:
The Triquetra represents the threefold nature of the Goddess as virgin, mother and crone. It symbolizes life, death, and rebirth and the three forces of nature: earth, air, and water. The inner three circles represent the female element and fertility.

The symbol has been seen in other formations, even some without the circle, but this has become my favorite out of each style. And I decided if I was going to have some jewelry with the symbol, I should know what it is I'm wearing!

The Triquetra image came from a scan of one of my earrings, a set I found at Anime Next in June, 2005. Amongst the anime souvenirs, someone had a sterling silver jewelry booth and I paid about $8 for the pair. I wear the earrings the most at work since they are small and I also have the same symbol on a ring with an amethyst stone.

And for those who may feel offended, I am not posting this to step on any toes, nor would I bash anyone's beliefs. I learned a little bit of the symbol and I like it, plain and simple. Please favor if you wish to use this Stamp. Thank you!

That's a Trinity Knot. There is a distinction.
